MY GO-TO WORKOUT MOTIVATION TIPS

WEAR A WORKOUT SET

I find that for some reason, when I am in a coordinated set, I feel so much more “on my game” for a workout, plus if you want it to be your outfit for the day, you are already put together. My favorite places for cute sets are Free People Movement, Alo Yoga, and Carbon 38. Target’s JoyLab line has also started doing some really cute pieces.

CREATE A DESIGNATED SPACE

Roll out your mat somewhere free of clutter and separate from work or sleep if you can. I like going outside whenever I can. Just make sure you are free of distraction! It helps me to physically go somewhere, even if it’s to a nearby park, so that I can’t make an excuse once I’m there to not make the most of my time. If you make the effort to go, you will make the effort to make it happen.

WALKING WORKOUT

Walking can be a fabulous form of exercise with a few helpful tools. As you walk, really focus on engaging your core muscles, rolling your shoulders back and down, and keeping your head held high. With each step, really extend and feel your inner thighs as you step forward and squeeze your glutes as you switch legs. Focusing on this engagement is actually a really great form of meditation to give you something to focus on! Another thing I do, is pretend like I’m walking in my favorite place. Whether it’s the beach or a city, really visualizing that space is such a great way to get lost for a little bit :)

FINDING A GOOD HEADSPACE

The last, most important piece is not only getting yourself to the workout, but getting through the workout. This brings in the question I always come back to, “How bad do you want it?” This question is my driving force in everything I do. When I feel unsure or unmotivated I always ask myself, how bad do you want it? With your health, how bad do you want it? With your fitness goals, how bad do you want it? With your career, how bad do you want it? Because if you want something bad enough, you will push through. There is nothing more rewarding than sitting back and looking at how far you’ve come and remembering the moments when you asked yourself this question. Just because we want something really bad, does not mean it will land in our lap. It’s how bad do you want it AND how hard will you work to get that thing. For me, this question comes up a lot when I’m working out. Just when you don’t think you can, ask yourself, how bad do you want it? Because if you want it bad enough, you will push through, and you will come out the other side so much stronger than you’ve ever been before.
